This is the best coconut milk! It is so thick & rich. It's the only one my husband will let me buy. We make coconut milk ice cream with it (5 cans of this product shaken well, fill one can with a liquid sweetener such as honey, maple syrup, agave nectar etc, the seeds of 1/2 a vanilla bean, 1 tsp salt & some other nondairy milk like almond, rice, tofu, soy etc - makes 6 quarts). This is also great for making a nondairy whipped topping. It makes a really nice addition to potato soup to make it nice & creamy. It's a great cholesterol-free alternative to animal milk. This is also the best price I could find & I use it so often, I culdn't resist getting 2 of these 6-packs & putting it on subscribe & save.

I buy this product all the time at the grocery store, so thought I would try ordering a 6 pack from Amazon. Both deliveries were disappointments. The first time, the coconut milk was a much thicker consistency than when I've bought it in the past and it was all separated in the can (which is somewhat normal in my experience) but wouldn't fully mix together...still had little curds that wouldn't break up. It also seemed to go bad very quickly once I opened it. I wondered if the product got frozen during delivery since I bought it in the winter and decided to try ordering it again a couple weeks ago. That time, the box arrived in good shape, but all 6 cans were severely dented so I ended up just throwing them out and got a refund. Very disappointed since I love this coconut milk and normally have no problems with the many things I buy on Amazon.

I read the other reviews and knew I was gambling when ordering this product. I typically buy this from the store and the product is thick, will separate, and tastes good. I did not get the black top, so maybe I should have just sent it back! I kept the product simply because I kept thinking it might be good enough for something, but I'm always disappointed in the turnout of the food/drinks that I make with it. I only have two cans left, but will not buy again. Too much of a gamble. I'm trying again with Native Forest, but see the reviews are similar. I'll send it back after the first can if it's the same issue!

Other reviews mentioned dented cans. I had one small dent, but that was all. The lids were just normal can lids - not black. The milk, according to the can, would harden in the refrigerator. It did not. There also was no separation of cream on the top so I apparently got skim coconut milk but paid for full fat. There was NO lovely coconut smell or taste. It was thick like heavy cream and did a good job of creaming my coffee, which is what I wanted it for. To get the taste and richness I wanted I had to add some coconut oil (see my review of Nature's Way Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil). I have used coconut milk before that had a wonderful aroma and richness, but I no longer live where I can get it. I will continue to search.

I like the coconut milk. It separates well in the fridge but all of my cans were completely damaged with dents. The box and packaging were in perfect condition so they were damaged before shipment, which is frustrating. The coconut milk still tastes great, so it's not too much of a problem, but items should not be shipped already damaged unless it is marked as such.

Addendum to initial review: I upgraded my rating from 3 stars to 4, but did not feel the rating should be a 5 because of the initial exerience I had with my first order. I have ordered this coconut milk two more times and both times the cans of coconut milk were in good shape upon arrival. The coconut milk is great! Tastes delicious, creamy and the cream separates well in the fridge if needed. A+ for the coconut milk!

The consistency of this coconut milk makes it perfect for cooking. It doesn't break down and is not too watery. My panang curry has never been so nice and smooth. Highly recommended. I use this in:

    Panang Curry
    2 or 3 tablespoons Panang curry paste (or a package http://amzn.to/2fU03u5 )
    coconut oil
    I can coconut milk
Some skinless, boneless chicken cubed or sliced into strips (1 breast or 4-5 chicken tenders)
6 dried kaffir lime leaves, whole
    2 tablespoons palm sugar
2 tablespoons fish sauce, or to taste
Sliced red, yellow and green bell peppers
2 tbsp basil leaves or 2 tbsp of basil paste (depending on availability)

Warm the curry paste in the coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat until fragrant. Stir the coconut milk into the curry paste and bring to a boil. Add the chicken, kaffir lime leaves and basil, cook and stir until the chicken is nearly cooked through, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the palm sugar, fish sauce and peppers. Simmer together for 5 more minutes. Taste and adjust the saltiness or sweetness by adding more fish sauce or coconut sugar if necessary. serve over Jasmine Rice. ( http://amzn.to/2gwr1Ib )
