My darling babies,
Sometimes I think my heart might explode from all the longing I have to meet you. To see your sweet faces. To kiss your sweet toes. Sometimes at night I dream about what you might look like and long to hold you close to my bosom.
I already love you so much, my sweet angels. I think about what I’d like to teach you and show you and help you discover about the world. And I wonder what lessons you will teach us in return. I am already so thankful for what you will teach me and how you will grow me in character, as an individual and as a parent. I will never be the same after you, and in excited to see how we will shape each other’s lives.
I cannot wait to meet you, my darlings. With you, our world will begin anew.
What will you say when you see the stars for the first time? Will your eyes light up in wonder?
I dream about your expression when I teach you about growing things, and how sun and water and earth and air help to grow a living being that in turn will grow you.
My sweet babes, I cannot wait to read to you and teach you how to read for yourself. I imagine the excitement in your eyes as you discover new worlds and adventures waiting for you inside of books. I wonder if one of you will be able to read in color, like me.
Little ones, I want to teach you about God and all of His miraculous wonders. Did you know that He made the earth and the grass and the trees and all the living creatures for you? Every morning the colors in the sky at daybreak are a gift for you to take pleasure in. I hope you find wonder and marvel at each individual snowflake, an infinite sky and horizon over the ocean, the ingenuity of humans to build and create, the roar of a lion, and in the ruby red arils of a pomegranate. Every atom, every element, was pieced together and designed for you to marvel at. You, too, are fearfully and wonderfully made, my darling children.
I cannot wait to see what God has planned for your lives. What great things you will do! People you will touch, and souls you will love. I wonder what you will create, learn, build and achieve with your lives, and what your individual talents will be. And I want you to know that we will always be here to encourage and support you as you learn and grow and live.
I want you to know that you will always be loved. And wanted. And accepted. Know that you are beautiful, handsome, strong, intelligent, special, valued, and precious to me.
My darling babes, I can’t wait to meet you.
Love forever,
Mommy
*delurks* I thought I was the only person who did this (talks to my future babies)!!! That was a very sweet letter :D
I can’t help it. I have mini-conversations in my head with them whenever I’m around children. :) My heart just starts pitter-pattering.
Courtney, you are beautiful. I love your heart and your soul sooo much. I’m sooo very thankful God assigned me to be your Mother. I love you!!
I love you Mom :)
I love this! I actually have a little green journal I keep around to journal letters like this to my future kiddos, Such sweet sentiments!
Thanks Britt. That journal is a sweet idea. :)
Courtney, this is the sweetest letter I have ever read. You are going to be a GREAT mommy someday! I just know it :)
I sure hope so! I feel like my heart is fit to burst sometimes. My mother was/is an excellent role model for me. I have a feeling some mothering will come naturally to me, as I remember things my mom used to do. My own mother is such a special part of my life. Want to know something funny? I actually enjoy cleaning my kitchen floor sometimes because it makes me think of my mom and how she taught me to use baking soda to clean off the scuffs. :)
aww..sound familiar. (my mom loves to clean very tediously..like with a toothbrush!) I love my mom as a role model and I know what you mean about doing things that make you think of her!
