While I was here in Phoenix staying with Kendahl, I also learned that there is another blogger here! Together, Kelly Liston and Tamara Mannelly run the blog Oh, Lardy!
I only got to spend a lunch hour with Kelly, but I did get to visit her home, meet her dogs and daughter, and see her backyard chickens. Even though we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, it was still really fun to meet!
She showed me all her “girls” and how they set up their chicken coup. Just like DaNelle, Kelly uses golf balls to train the chickens to lay in their nesting boxes.
I think it’s really unique that Kelly and Tamara both write Oh, Lardy! together. The pair actually met through a mutual friend, and then ended up writing the blog together due to a common interest in real food and holistic health. Even now, they live in completely different cities, but still run the blog together!

How long have you been blogging?
Oh Lardy was born in August, 2012; 8 pounds 5 ounces – just a sweet bundle of joy, really.
What topics do you blog about?
We write about a variety of topics revolving around real food and good eating. Our main goal is to provide good information about Real Food and how to incorporate it in to your life simply and effortlessly.
Describe your family for us.
Kelly: I am married and have 3 kiddos (2 boys and a girl ages 9, 7, and 3). We live in Phoenix and have a couple of goldendoodles (chicken killers) and 6 hens. When we aren’t doing the school thing, we like to take our tent trailer camping and spend time at my parent’s cabin in Pinetop.
Tamara: I am married and have one 7 year old daughter. We love to travel both domestically and internationally, especially during Chicago’s LONG winter.
What hobbies do you enjoy?
Kelly: I am also a photographer and I would take pictures and edit them all day long if I had the time. I also love to read and wish I had more hours in the day to do just that. I like to sew, and find that when I do sew, I wonder why I don’t do it more often.
Tamara: I enjoy playing tennis, strength exercising and gardening. I love to read fiction, but I am completely involved in the world of Real Food and wellness right now. This is for both Oh Lardy and since I am currently a student at Institute for Integrative Nutrition, pursuing a degree in Holistic Health Coaching.
If it was your last day on earth, what would you want to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Junk food totally counts!
Kelly: For breakfast I would have some of my hen’s eggs (over easy) on top of my husband’s awesome hash browns with a side of fermented salsa. For lunch I would have it at Postino’s (a central Phoenix restaurant). I just love their bruschetta. For dinner I would have some bierocks (beef and cabbage buns) with some sauerkraut and a delicious fruit salad. But this is just the stuff I am craving today. Ask me again next month. :)
Tamara: Oh wow…there are so many choices. If I am being totally honest and gross, I’d have to say a McDonald’s filet-o-fish and large fries. Is it okay to even admit that?! Am I now banned from the Real Food world?
What three posts on your blog do you want to share with my readers?
Some of my favorite recent posts are:

Getting Started With Real Food
How/why did you start blogging?
We really wanted a space to put all of our great information. Both of us always had friends asking for tips and advice and we thought, hey, why not create a website where we can put our information for everyone to see.
What’s the biggest challenge about running a blog?
Kelly: Trying to make sure it doesn’t take over my life.
Tamara: Same as Kelly. I need to get better at organizing my time, both with the blog and with school.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
We love the community, collaborating with each other, and educating people about something we feel so passionate about.
Do you have any eBooks or classes that readers might be interested in?
We have series devoted to fermented foods. The first post in the series is called “The Bugs In Your Belly.”
