This March, I was lucky enough to stay with Lindsey from Homemade Mommy, and she made me one of her South African hot toddies one evening. I really enjoyed it—enough to make it again. :)
Today, I’ve taken her recipe and tweaked it a little to make it my own. This drink is perfect at the end of the day.
Hot Toddy
Makes 2 mugs
3 cups raw milk
2 oz. whiskey (I like using Maker’s Mark.)
5 TBSP grade B maple syrup (buy here)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (buy here)
1/2 tsp cardamom (buy here)
1/4 tsp turmeric (buy here)
In a medium heavy-based pan, warm the milk on medium heat. Stir in the whiskey and maple syrup. Then, whisk in the spices. Warm evenly until the milk begins to foam, just before it really starts to scald. You might need to give it a stir a couple times. Then pour into a mug and enjoy!
