Now, (Mom, correct me if I’m wrong) but I don’t think I ever cut off my hair or anyone else’s as a kid, so that would mean that yesterday I gave my first haircut!
Two days ago, I was looking at Josh’s thick hair saying, “Hm, it’s getting pretty long. Might be time for a cut. It’s getting poofy.” And he turns to me and says, “Do you want to cut it?”
HUH?!
Um. Well. Maybe. Let me YouTube it first!!
So yesterday, I literally woke up and started watching YouTube videos on how to cut boy hair. How to cut boy hair with scissors. How to cut boy hair with clippers and scissors. How to cut boy hair short. How to cut boy hair medium length. I learned about point cutting. I learned about cross-checking. I learned about guard sizes on clippers.
By 1 o’clock, I was ready to go out and buy scissors.
Sally Beauty Supply, here I come!
A comb, a spray bottle, a pair of shears and a pair of thinning scissors later, I was ready to do this thingy.
>>>Buy home barber tools<<<
I texted Josh on his way back from a neurology seminar.
Muahaha.
But he was great actually and let me cut it without complaint.
I told him I would either be terrible from lack of experience or awesome because I’m such a perfectionist.
Then I decided to be AWESOME that this is what happened.
I wrapped that boy up in a bath towel and went to work!
SLOWLY.
CAREFULLY.
*SNIP!*
No going back now! Voila!
Done!
LEFT!
RIGHT!
Annnnddddd just look at that!
I think I did a pretty great job if I do say so myself. ^_^
Nothing a little bit of YouTube can’t teach ya! Check out the playlist I made on YouTube for hair cutting videos. :)
Great job. Josh is adorable; he could be a model – especially with that hair cut!
Thank you! <3
Good Job! I’ve been cutting my hubby’s hair for almost as long as we’ve been married. He was right out of the Army and decided that I should cut his hair instead of paying the barber. Needless to say, my first flat-top wasn’t very good (it was pretty rounded!) He wore a hat for a week. So now we do short on the sides and a bit longer on top, high and tight style. My son was in ROTC in High School and I cut his hair too. So I only do the military or a Mohawk (don’t ask, it’s a teenage boy thing). Word to the wise, make sure the guides on the clippers snap on tightly, if they fall off mid-way, you have a giant bald patch!
Lol. My 29yo son has a do-it-yourself (short) Mohawk. I actually like it because it looks good on him.
I begged my husband to let me cut his hair about 20 years ago because he kept coming home with THE WORST cuts. (He has a funny hairline near his temples and stick-straight hair.) He was reluctant at first but was quickly won over, and I’ve been cutting his hair ever since.
Thanks! :)
You did a great job! I’ve had plenty of practice on my 3 boys but their aunt usually does it since she’s a hair dresser and my point, I don’t always do such a good job unless it’s a total shave! :)
Thanks! :)
GREAT job!!!!!!
Thank you! :)
