Surprise!
I’m filming a cooking class for you all called the Revived Kitchen Flavor Crash Course, and it’s all about (you guessed it!) how to flavor food. The number one question you guys have asked me over the years is “How do I cook with spices?” or “How do I cook with more than just salt?”
Well, I’m finally saddling up and making a video course. Today was my first day filming, and boy-oh-boy is it a learning curve! First of all, I’m a writer. There’s a reason I write instead of speaking! It’s a lot easier, and if I make a mistake, I can just delete and rewrite it until I’m satisfied. Typos? No problem. I can edit that. But filming? Hahahahahaha I can’t tell you how many times I had to start and stop today because I forgot what I wanted to say or I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet.
I’m using a Canon T3i to capture video along with this handy dandy lighting kit I got off of Amazon. So yesterday, I knew nothing about video. Today, I know that I need extra batteries because I WILL do so many takes that the battery will die. I also learned that there is a difference between SD cards and write-speeds for video recording. I learned that it’s hard to make eye contact with a camera, and that note cards are helpful to remember what you want to talk about. Next, I’ll have to learn how to edit all this footage from today. Hehe.
Anyway! I’m excited to share this class with you in a few weeks! Stay tuned!
Good for you!! It’s such a learning curve, for sure! Excited for what you create!
So fun! Can’t wait to see it!
So fun! I’m looking forward to seeing your class. I appreciate you sharing your tips too – I’ve been wondering about how to go about making videos.
Looking forward to seeing the finished result.
Thanks for sharing the process. I think you are brave.
I’m sure it’ll be super. It is, after all, one of your passions, and
you know that you have much to share!
