Two weeks ago, I joined a Crossfit gym. It was one of my goals this year to start exercising more and making my body strong so that I can eventually carry a baby.
Yeah, maybe it will be a few years before then, but it’s always in my mind. Better to start early than a month before I get pregnant right? At least that’s what I think.
I’m eating a diet that promotes fertility, exercising, and receiving chiropractic care to align my spine and pelvis.
Besides preparing for pregnancy, I want to enjoy vibrant health for my entire life! Eating a real food diet, exercising, and regular chiropractic care are all components to fighting the various illnesses that plague our society today.
I’ve been getting up around 5:50am to go to Crossfit, and I’m actually really liking the morning class! For the record, I’m not a morning person. I love feeling the sheets against my skin. I love waking up naturally, instead of with an alarm, and I like opening my eyes right when the sun starts to creep into the window around 7am.
But I’m hoping this getting-up-early thing sticks, because I’m a LOT more productive for the remainder of the day, since I’m already up and moving by 8am.
Oh! Well, because I’m doing Crossfit 4-5 times a week (and because I always shower afterward), I’ve decided it’s TIME. Time to give water-washing another go!
Water-Washing
I had to give up water-washing when we moved because the water was extremely hard, and I used this shampoo instead. Water-washing only works if you have a very good water filter.
But now that my shower filter is installed, and because I would have to wash my hair 4-5 days a week due to Crossfit kick-you-in-the-butt workouts, I figured it was as good a time as any to start water-washing again!!
So, day #1 of water-washing this time around was July 15. Now, it’s June 18, so I’m on day 3, and so far so good.
My hair hasn’t been oily yet, but it is frizzier. It was frizzier to begin with last time, but then eventually settled down once my natural oils distributed to the length of my hair. I’m hoping it goes away quickly, because I hate frizzies!
That’s all I really have to report for now. Ta-ta!
I heard from someone else doing honey no ‘poo that at week 7 she kind of magically had drastic improvement and in the last couple days since I first commented I have finally seen some magically drastic improvement myself! My hair is still not “normal” but I guess I’ll hold out a while longer and see if I can make it work. Maybe my transition period is just extra long. Maybe I’ll even get the water filter and transition into just water washing in the future :-)
Does having hard well water affect all types of no ‘poo methods? I tried BS/ACV for a while but it destroyed my hair (frizzy, broke easily, tons of split ends) and I’m using honey now, but even after almost two months I have to wash daily and still look like I did an oil mask and never washed it out! I really want to find a no ‘poo method that works for me because I hate having to buy expensive (and tiny!) bottles of organic shampoo and conditioner (not to mention styling products, like you said!), and a shower filter would be worth it if that’s what I need to make it work!
Some well-water is good, but I can’t speak for yours unless you know how much sediment is in it. The Berkey shower filter I use should last Frank and I a year if we both take a 10 minute shower a day. 10 minutes is being generous because sometimes I take two five minute showers if I get really sweaty or something. The only way I’ve been able to do water-only is with the shower filter. Otherwise, my hair breaks like crazy!
Joni,
When you were doing a ‘no poo method with BC/ACV what was the proportions you were using? I find that you might need to just change your proportions. This blog http://www.howtohairgirl.com/category/how-to-shamphree/ had a ton of great tips! I am a recent ‘no poo convert (I’m almost two months in) and started with only honey/h2o combo and had the same problem, oil slick city. Switching to BC/ACV solved that problem and now I do honey once or twice a week. Don’t give up! xoxo
